Why we created these resources for YOU!
The Can-Do Crew's Primary Goal
Promoting and modeling positive social and emotional skills at a young age is a primary goal of The Can-Do Crew. Our approach of engaging students in fun interactive games, dynamic role playing and empowering experiential learning helps them gain specific SEL skills quickly and easily allows them to implement them in their everyday lives. The Can-Do Crew Curriculum provides young students with many opportunities to practice their newly discovered skills and hone them in a variety of real life situations.
Incorporating the "five core competencies" of CASEL, the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (1) is a critical component in the design of our Can-Do Crew program. Each lesson plan includes at least one if not more of these key skills.
We Can Make the World Better!
Why did we want to create these resources? It is because students' positive social behaviors (such as empathy, compassion and generosity) may increase, their emotional stress levels may decrease, and their academic achievement, as well as, their attitudes toward education may improve as a result of an effective and impactful social emotional learning program (2).
We wanted to be part of the foundation laid by a strong SEL curriculum that enhances students' abilities to be successful in both school and employment, improves their prospects of a long healthy life and increases their likelihood of engaged citizenship (3).
